On 1/12/14 Corporal Woody Perry, of the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department, was dispatched to a commercial burglary at Degray One Stop in Bismarck. Upon arrival, Cpl. Perry ascertained that suspects had broken into the north side of the business, and approximately $1000.00 worth of merchandise had been stolen from the business. Cpl. Perry turned the incident over to the Hot Spring County Criminal Investigations Division. Upon investigation of the scene, statements obtained from an employee, and tips from the Bismarck community, Christian Johnson, 18, of Bismarck, and three juveniles were brought into the Sheriff’s Department on 1/21/14 for questioning about the incident. Detectives were able to get audio and video confessions from all four suspects pertaining to their involvement in the burglary. The juveniles were turned over to the juvenile court system and Johnson was arrested and booked into the Hot Spring County Jail on charges of Commercial Burglary, a Class C Felony and Theft of Property, a Class D Felony. His bond was set by the judge at $5000.00 cash or professional bond. The owner of Degray One Stop told detectives that she has upgraded her security system in an attempt to prevent further burglaries at her business. |
