Large Cat Sightings in South Malvern/Lono Areas

The Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department was made aware today that over the last several weeks there have been multiple sightings of a large cat from the South Vineyard area to Hwy 222 area South of Malvern, on Hwy 9.  Residents in the area have described it as being an extremely long, light brown/tan in color, large cat, with a tuft of darker fur on the end of its tail.  One Hot Spring County resident captured an image of the animal on camera, but as you can see, the picture was too blurry to determine what type of large cat it actually is.  We are unsure at this time if it is an exotic or indigenous animal.  If it is an animal that was released from captivity, it may not be fearful of humans, which could create a dangerous situation. If you see the animal, do not try to approach it.  Call 911 immediately.
