7 Stolen Vehicles Recovered by Hot Spring County Detectives

Daniel Fite

Joshua Fite

Two subjects are in custody after Hot Spring County Detectives Greg McKinney and Spencer Burroughs worked many hours to recover several stolen vehicles. Since mid-April, the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department has received 7 stolen vehicle reports from multiple areas in the county.   Many of the victims live on major highways, such as, Hwy 128, Hwy 84, and Hwy 70, but residents of some county roads were victimized as well.  There does not appear to be a pattern to the way the vehicles were taken but in one instance the owner stated that he started his vehicle to warm the engine in the morning before work, went inside, and it was gone when he came outside to leave.  The vehicles were taken at different times of day and night.  The only common factor that detectives found was that all the vehicles had the keys left inside of them.

Information obtained by Garland County Deputies led to the identification of Joshua Fite, 28, of Hot Springs, and Daniel Fite,18, also of Hot Springs as suspects.  Hot Spring County Detectives recovered two of the stolen vehicles inside Garland County.  One of the vehicles and the suspects were previously involved in a pursuit with Garland County Deputies and fled on foot.  As the investigation progressed, Detectives McKinney and Burroughs followed leads to the remaining vehicles which were recovered in areas of Clark County, Baxter County, and Hot Spring County.  Since April there have been 7 vehicle thefts in Hot Spring County but due to diligent investigative efforts all 7 vehicles have been recovered. The Criminal Investigations Division would like to thank all agencies involved in this investigation.

Joshua Fite and Daniel Fite, have been charged for Breaking and Entering and Theft of a Motor Vehicle, with more charges being assessed.  Their bond amounts have been set by the judge at $5000.00 each.
